Martha’s Vineyard lost to Bishop Stang Friday, 5-3, at home in Oak Bluffs. Vineyard high school baseball team captain and ace of the pitching staff, Ben Ciciora, went the distance Friday, striking out eight, walking three, and allowing three earned runs.

The Vineyard enjoyed a brief lead in the fifth inning when Will Smith drove in two with a single in the fifth inning. The Spartans answered with two of their own in the top of the sixth.

Ryan Fisher, who made a circus catch against the fence in left field, stroked one of the three Vineyard hits in the game. Jack Roberts had the other hit.
