This past Friday and Saturday there were two benefits for Island community members: the Vineyard Montessori School and Paul Jackson, who was injured in a car accident last year.
The Vineyard Montessori School held their annual Big Night Out at Farm Neck Golf Club on May 13. Guests bid on live and silent auction items with urging from auctioneer Trip Barnes, with items ranging from a private cooking class and meal at Atria to a stay on a ranch in the Rocky Mountains.
On Saturday, more than 300 friends and family of Paul Jackson went to the Portuguese-American Club in Oak Bluffs for food by Local Smoke and a potluck spread, to music by Island Thunder DJs and Good Night Louise. A combination of ticket sales, silent auction, and raffle items has raised more than $20,000.
“The people of Martha’s Vineyard are remarkable, extraordinary and special,” said Bonnie Tilton, Paul’s mother. “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to each of you for the incredible hard work, contributions, and support to make Saturday’s fundraiser at the PA Club such a success. My endless thanks goes out to the many hundreds of people who have relieved our burdens by wrapping Paul and our family with their giving gifts of love, hope, kindness, and donations.”
