To the Editor:
On behalf of Featherstone Center for the Arts, I thank The Martha’s Vineyard Times and especially Gwyn McCallister and photographer Ralph Stewart for attending and reviewing Featherstone’s second annual Garden Tea Party and Fashion Show on Saturday, May 7.
As most of you know, it takes an incredible amount of time and talent from so many people to have a successful event. Featherstone is lucky and blessed to have a great corps of volunteers who flawlessly plan and execute the numerous events and programs we offer all year. A huge debt of gratitude goes to Judy Cunniffe, the Chair of the Garden Tea Party and Fashion Show, who worked tirelessly for the past six months, insuring that every detail was addressed so that our guests would be happy.
Thank you to: the Featherstone board of directors for making tea sandwiches, loaning tea cups and teapots; the Tisbury Senior Center for providing their teacups for the day; Dottie Arnold for donating tea cups; Joyce Dresser, Margaret Gallagher, Bernadette Cormie of Herring Run Kitchens, Jessica Buckley of Buckley’s Catering, Salvatore Della Torre and Cronig’s for tea sandwiches; our incredible tea volunteers: Susan Garrett, Mary French, Nancy Pedulla, Enid McEvoy, Ginnie Gosselin, Courtney Minnehan, and Danielle Cleary; the fashion show team of Minor Knight, Nancy Neil, Barbara St. Germain and Michael Hunter; Susan Chapman from Boucle Salon and Spa for hair and make up; our models and Island boutiques for providing the entertainment of fashion trends and styles of the season; fashion helper: Kanta Lipsky; Peggy Zablotny for donating her “Glorious” botanical collage for our raffle; raffle sellers: Holly Alaimo, Martha Adleman, Stephanie Mashek, and Susan Glover; Jardin Mahoney for a glorious floral entrance into the tent; The Polly Hill Arboretum, Martha’s Vineyard Garden Club, and Wendy Oliver of Frosty Hollow Orchids for hat prizes; Patsy McCornack, Kim Cutler, and Seddon Beatty for the floral centerpieces and Tilton Rentall for providing the most glamorous setting for a tea party on our pastoral campus. Thank you to the Featherstone staff: Francine Kelly, Emme Brown, and Karen Huff for a job well done.
A special thank you to our more than 230 guests who spent the afternoon with us.
For the past 15 years, Featherstone has served the Island community. We are privileged to provide year-round art experiences for children, adults, and families that are affordable and often free. We support local artists, musicians, poets, performers, and businesses each and every day. Featherstone would not exist without the community support we receive on a daily basis.
So that we may thank you properly, we invite you to join us Saturday, August 6, from 3 to 8 pm, as Featherstone celebrates its fifteenth anniversary.
