New shops in Edgartown

Edgartown is growing by leaps and bounds with a new store, a store that has moved downtown to expand their options for you, and two stores that have gotten so popular they had to open an additional store across the Island.

Alex and Ani on Winter Street is our newest addition to the Edgartown retail family. They are located in Nevin Square on the front street side. Alex and Ani, according to their website, has a mission, “To design products that adorn the body, enlighten the mind, and empower the spirit. Alex and Ani’s collections reflect a design aesthetic that celebrates each wearer’s unique essence. Owner and designer Carolyn Rafaelian believes it is her life’s work to inspire her customers to relish what is unique and authentic about themselves.”

When you walk into their chic and streamlined store, you can appreciate the beauty of each jewelry piece, with an emphasis on the bracelets. You will find a variety of price points and displays, with products ranging from bracelets to rings, and items for men as well as women. Each piece in the store “Is based upon using eco-friendly, recycled materials made entirely in the United States,” according to the website.

On Main Street, The Boneyard has relocated from Upper Main Street to 47 Main Street, where Edgartown Hardware used to be. To say that you wouldn’t even recognize the store space as having been a hardware store previously is an understatement. The Boneyard has completely transformed this space into its own, with high ceilings, cool lighting, and a wide array of land and water gear. They have clothing for everyone from bikinis to board shorts and dresses to sweatshirts from makers like Oakley Swim, Patagonia, Billabong, Roxy, Speedo, and more. They even carry the Vans line of shoes to complement the outfits you choose. Accessories include sunglasses, watches, bags, hats, belts, and sandals. For the energetic person, here is where you can find your boarding needs from surf to wake, skate to boogie. Wetsuits are also on hand, so no excuses. Stop in to see their amazing selections, as who knows, this could be your new favorite store.

Vineyard Vines has been a staple on Martha’s Vineyard since its inception in 1998. Owners Shep and Ian Murray have upgraded their retail digs from backpacks (1998) to a vast collection of retail stores found in Edgartown to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and numerous places in between. You may now find their collection of clothing and accessories for men, women, and children on-Island in two locations, the long-standing Winter Street store in Edgartown and the new large storefront in Oak Bluffs on the corner of Narragansett and Circuit Avenues. Congratulations to the Vineyard Vines family on this wonderful new addition.

The final Edgartown expansion store is hannah b, a popular clothing and jewelry store on Main Street, between Alchemy and Saffron (which is also owned by co-owner Patty Culkins). Hannah b has decided to spread its wings and open a sister store at 56 Main Street in Vineyard Haven. In both stores you will be able to find their unique and comfortable selection of women’s clothing and shoes. These stores just might be the answer to completing your amazing summer wardrobe.
