As they’ve done since before anyone can remember, students and teachers from the Tisbury School set off for Vineyard Haven Harbor on Friday, in a joyful but serious recognition of Memorial Day.
Down West Spring Street they proceeded, turned left onto Main, and finally right down Owen Park Way to the town pier.
With two of their schoolmates making a human rail to keep anyone from falling overboard, dozens of children threw bouquets of flowers into the harbor, a gesture in memory of service men and women who died fighting for our country.
