Hoses spewed and suds flew at two benefit car washes on June 4. At the Oak Bluffs School, members of the high school girls' lacrosse team did the honors, while out at the high school itself, softball players substituted sponges and brushes for bats and gloves.
The washes couldn't have come at a better time, according to many Island drivers, whose cars — and lives — have been overwhelmed by nasty, sneezy pollen over the last week or so.
