Lighten up on the SSA

To the Editor:

When a snafu occurs on or to a SSA ferry, one’s anticipated day ahead of shopping, pre- or post-surgical, dental procedure, treatment, business, academic commitment, airline connection, etc. suddenly comes to to a halt. I was affected by last Wednesday’s tree-piercing of the MV Nantucket’s sprinkler system, causing the dreaded pronouncement, “The 9:30 boat is cancelled.”

Yes, it’s a major or a minor nuisance but not a tornado or volcano. Many of us need to lighten up our frustrated reactions to SSA workers. Agents are adept at sorting out and ranking emergencies, as well as expediting solutions.
