Red Cross blood drive aims to prevent summer shortage
The American Red Cross turns to the Vineyard community on Tuesday, June 21, to help fill a critical need for blood. While donations of all blood types are appreciated, donors with type O negative blood are especially needed, according to a press release.
"Type O negative is always in high demand because it can be transfused to patients with any blood type, especially in emergency situations," a Red Cross press release said. "Type O negative donors can make the difference between an adequate blood supply and a summer shortage."
The blood drive will take place between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm at the Portuguese-American Club on Vineyard Avenue in Oak Bluffs.
