Tons of farm-grown produce

June 29, 2011

To the Editor:

Island Grown Gleaning (MV Gleaners) would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Morning Glory Farm.

In an outstanding act of generosity, last year Morning Glory donated approximately five tons of farm-grown produce to school lunch programs, elders, and community members in need. The value of this must not be underestimated. So many of the recipients would otherwise not enjoy delicious, nutritious, locally grown food.

Morning Glory has offered to participate in the gleaning program again this year, on an even larger scale. (Island Grown Gleaning will need help harvesting and delivering the food. If you are interested in volunteering for an hour or two, call 508-687-9603 or jamie@islandgrown.org.)

We are so thankful for the work of the Athearn family and staff and all that Morning Glory Farm provides to our community.
