For the first time in the Tisbury Street Fair’s 40 years, a tee-shirt specially designed to commemorate it will be available for purchase at the event tomorrow evening.

The Tisbury Fire Fighters Association (TFFA) will sell the tee-shirts for $10 apiece. Funds raised will go towards scholarships for high school students, financial assistance for injured fire fighters and their families, and community outreach activities.

The white tee-shirt features a colorful drawing by 10-year-old Julia Kane, a Tisbury School fourth-grader. She won a design contest sponsored by the TFFA in February among fourth-graders in Pam Herman’s and Veronika Van de Geer Buckley’s classes.

As the winner, Julia received tee-shirts for herself and her family and a $20 gift certificate to Bunch of Grapes bookstore from Tisbury fire fighter Gary Buckley in a ceremony at Tisbury School on June 20. Designs by runners-up in the contest will be on display at the street fair.
