Catherine N. (Keaney) Goudey, 93, of Lynn died Wednesday in the Jewish Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Bradford S. Goudey, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.
Catherine was born in the “Brickyards” of Lynn, with the map of Ireland glowing on her Gaelic face, and with beautiful red hair. Her parents, the late Christopher and Delia (Connolly) Keaney, came from Ireland. There was no one nicer than Catherine, and she may have been the leprechaun of the Keaney Family. She was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1936, and she was a lifelong resident of Lynn.
Catherine was a resident at Sunrise at Gardner Park in Peabody for the past six years. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise for all the love and support they gave to Catherine.
Catherine was a huge fan of the Boston Bruins and loved watching her favorite soap operas, General Hospital and Days of Our Lives.
Catherine is survived by her daughter, Judith Johnson, and her husband, Wayne, of Lynn and her son, Robert Goudey, and his wife, Carol, of Martha’s Vineyard. She was a devoted grandmother to her five grandchildren, Tara Friedman, Kelly McGarvey, Brad, Corey, and Kevin Goudey. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Morgan McGarvey and Logan Meaney and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Tom, Edward, John, Marty, Frank, and Paul Keaney.
Catherine’s funeral was held on Friday, July 1, followed by interment in Pine Grove Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, or Santa’s Helping Hands, P.O. Box 27, Lynn, MA 01901.
