The Oak Bluffs police department Tuesday promoted officer Steven Conley to the rank of sergeant in a ceremony held before officials, family, and friends.

Officer Conley, a five-year veteran of the force, underwent a scrupulous promotional process, according to a press release. “Sergeant Conley surpassed all my expectations through the promotional process, and I believe he will be a respected and trusted leader for members of the Department as well as members of the community as a whole,” Police Chief Eric Blake said.

Sergeant Conley was a member of the U.S. Army from 1999 to 2007 and served in Iraq and Bosnia. He currently serves as the training officer for the regional tactical response team and also serves as the assistant emergency management director for Oak Bluffs. He lives in Oak Bluffs with his wife Kelly and three children, Aiden, Liam, and Avery.
