On June 30, the YMCA of Martha's Vineyard celebrated its one-year anniversary by honoring some of those most responsible for its creation, including top donors and board members.
Attendees gathered outside the front doors for the unveiling of the new name for the 35,000-square-foot building, which is now called The Swartz Family YMCA, in honor of Jim and Susan Swartz, who have contributed more than $3 million to the project.
Also honored were Kathryn and Tim Goodman, who commissioned 12 stunning art works by Margot Datz to be permanently displayed in the Y in honor of their mother, Jean Goodman. The contributions of founding members Cindy Doyle, Chuck Hughes, and Bill Skinner, along with other members of the Board of Directors were appropriately recognized for their contributions, as were John and Charlotte Klein and Jacques and
Marfi Gagnon for their financial support.
