Edgartown Library honors Edo Potter, longtime public servant

Some 200 supporters of the Edgartown Library turned out at the Field Club on Saturday to honor Edo Potter of Chappaquiddick with a Lifetime Achievement Award and to recognize three Edgartown School students for their winning essays in the Library Foundation’s annual essay contest.

A Legacy of Learning, as the fundraiser brunch is known, is put on by the Edgartown Library Foundation, whose mission is to raise money and public support for the library.

Among many other positions she held in town, Ms. Potter was a selectman for six terms. In accepting the award, she noted the importance of libraries in her life, both the local public library when she was a child and the Vassar College library when she was an undergraduate there.

Essay winners were Joseph Pinto (Grade 7), Alexis Condon (4), and Marjorie Pendergraft (2).
