A news brief published July 13, "Carl Watt appointed to Edgartown library board," incorrectly identifed an applicant for the library board of trustees position as Elizabeth Hermann. The applicant was Lori Herman.

Calendar

A review of David McCullough's The Greatest Journey, published July 14 and headlined "In Print: The young nation's best and brightest go to Paris," mistakenly identified the first American woman doctor as Elizabeth Stanton. In fact, as Mr. McCullough correctly wrote, Elizabeth Blackwell of the Martha's Vineyard Blackwells, was the first, and she founded the New York Infirmary for Women and Children.

Community

In a story published July 14, "Mink Meadows mellows with age," it was incorrectly reported that Bruce Stone had recently shot an 83 at the course. Richard Stone shot the 83.
