Joseph A. Uva, age 75, of Avon, died on Sunday, July 17, 2011. He was the son of the late Joseph and Theresa Uva.

Raised and educated in Avon, he graduated from Avon High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the 1950s. Joe was formerly married to Barbara Dufault (Fitts). He was a sales associate at Paul Clark Ford for 32 years. Joe was a member of the Avon Fish and Game Club for 22 years and he loved sports, motorcycling, cooking, gardening, fishing, and hunting.

He is survived by his beloved soulmate, Geraldine Benson; and by his sons, Joseph Uva Jr. and his wife, Lara, of West Tisbury, Anthony Uva and his wife, Colene, Richard Uva and his wife, Abby, and his daughter Gina O’Neal and her husband, Timothy; and his sister Eugenia “Gina” Zienty.

He will be sorely missed by his grandchildren Joey, Ryan, Carly, Gabriella, Miles, Isabella, and Isaac Uva and Erin, Timothy, and Brian O’Neal, James Campbell and his nephew, Wallace “Wally,” and niece, Theresa. Also by Geraldine’s children, Steven Benson and his wife, Maggie, Lynn Rondeau and her husband, Rick, Cindy Davidson, Kathleen Mitchell and her husband, Robert , Robert Benson and his wife, Elizabeth, and also their children.

Funeral services will be held in the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph, on Friday, July 22, at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5 to 8 pm. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Avon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
