The MV Sharks gained ground on the league leaders Torrington Titans and Nashua Silver Knights with a come from behind 3-2 victory over the Titans, Tuesday, at the Vineyard Baseball Park, aka the high school’s diamond,
Hero of the day, again, was the Sharks leadoff batter, Robbie Zinsmeister of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Sharks the winning edge.
Zinsmeister and teammate Jeremy Matos of Central Florida continue to lead the Sharks at the plate. Zinsmeister has a .359 batting average, with 51 hits, 8 home runs, 25 RBI, and has scored 37 times.
Teammate Jeremy Matos of Central Florida University has 45 hits including 9 home runs, 27 RBI and a batting average of .341. He has scored 15 runs.
Catcher Anthony Corona of C.W.Post is batting .333 with 42 hits, 3 of which were homers. He has scored 19 runs and driven in 17.
At 20 wins and 16 losses, the Sharks are three games behind Torrington and Nashua who are virtually tied at 23-13 and 24-14. The Rochester, N.H. Seacost Mavericks trail by 17 games with a 7-31 record.
