August is a busy month for all, and certainly on Martha’s Vineyard, many different events take place every day.

Sunset Cruise with John Cruz

Starting Thursday evening, Grammy winner John Cruz will perform for three hours each night during a series of concerts aboard Black Dog’s Tall Ship Alabama. The ship will sail from the Black Dog Wharf in Vineyard Haven and go around Vineyard Sound, and the concert series will end Sunday. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic dinner, wine and cheese and simply enjoy the music and the atmosphere.

The Amish Project

Taffy McCarthy plays seven different characters in this play, which portrays the tragic schoolhouse shooting in the Amish community of Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania in 2006. The shows will start at 8 pm at the Katharine Cornell Theater in Vineyard Haven.

Paul Samuel Dolman Book Signing

On Friday August 5th, Paul Samuel Dolman will have a book signing event from 6 to 10 pm at Shindig Gallery in Edgartown. Mr. Dolman wrote “Hitchhiking with Larry David,” based on his own adventures on Martha’s Vineyard.

All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast

The Martha’s Vineyard Rotary Club will host its annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday and celebrate the club’s 20th anniversary. The breakfast will be served from 7 am to 1 pm at the Anchors in Edgartown. They will have pancake, bacon, sausage, juice and coffee.

MV Book Festival

The Martha’s Vineyard Book Festival will start at 11 am on Sunday at Chilmark Community Center, and throughout the day, over 20 authors will talk about their latest books.
