Boston Bruins legend and Hockey Hall of Famer Cam Neely, a Vineyard seasonal resident, brought the Stanley Cup trophy to the Martha’s Vineyard Arena Wednesday morning. Several hundred people turned out for the $20-a-head fundraiser to benefit the Island’s ice rink.

Many of them had their pictures taken with Lord Stanley’s Cup. Others gave it a kiss, but only Cam Neely lifted it aloft. The Bruin’s president also took time to sign autographs and pose for pictures with the fans.

It was the second time in two months the cup visited Martha’s Vineyard. On June 25, Mr. Neely and Jerry Jacobs Jr., a summer resident of Katama, brought the cup to the Vineyard for a tulmultuous celebration that included a parade down Main Street, Edgartown.

Except for the victory parade in Boston, Martha’s Vineyard was the first public stop for the Stanley Cup after the Bruins won it in a seventh game victory over the Vancouver Canucks on June 15.
