The beach on Martha’s Vineyard is a given visit in August. What is not so easily given is what do you do once you arrive. Many flip between relaxing on the sand and getting cool in the water. What if you had a few more options, actively speaking, to make your beach experience the most enjoyable? Below are some beach game suggestions and where you can find them, though this is just a start, as the Island has numerous stores that carry many of these suggested interactive games.
Granite Hardware at the Triangle in Edgartown has a full aisle dedicated to your beach enjoyment. They have the biggest set of games in one bag with Franklin’s 7 Game Bag, Beach Party combo set. Also unique to them are the Smash Dodge Ball Set that is made from a non-harmful fabric, and Kidoozie Lacrosse Set.
Alley’s General Store on State Road in West Tisbury can set your entire family up for a boogie board contest with their small, medium, and large size boards. Inside you can find the improved version of throwing darts with Zartz Urban Throw, along with a full Volley Ball Set, a Boomer Plane, and, while not a game, the Shark Head sand pail is a conversation piece in its own right.
The Boneyard on Main Street in downtown Edgartown has a full line of exciting beach games from Tiki Toss, the classic hook & ring game, to the Sand Toss and The Sand Hole games. The Pro Kadima Paddle game can be had here, along with the Acrobie Rocket Football, which is a unique upgrade to the traditional Nerf Football.
Stop & Shop’s Summer Fun Store, on Upper Main Street in Edgartown, is aptly named due to their full selection of individual games like the Fling Toss, Toss & Catch, and Pool Hoops (that could be used in quieter inlets or ponds) and their combo game sets like Horse Shoe & Ring Toss Set or their 6-Game Set.
The Corner Store on Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs is a great beach supply stop. Find Beach Balls, Pro Sports Disks, and Frisbees along with fishing poles, kites, and skim boards.
Cronig’s Market on State Road in Vineyard Haven has exploded onto the beach scene with choices ranging from the Toss’ Em Water Bomb, the Water Rocket and the Water Grenade, along with fun beach accessories like noodles or swim sets that include mask, snorkels, and fins.
The Lazy Frog on Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs has more beach options that you can shake a Frisbee Golf disk at. They have Italian Bocce Ball sets that are made to be played in the sand and the Water Bouncer, which touts itself as the hottest beach toy, and can be had in the round, or the more challenging square version.
