The Goldstein family, owners of the Mansion House announced that Benjamin deForest is the new chef at Zephrus Restaurant. Mr. deForest joins the Zephrus team following a stint at the Oyster Bar Grill in Oak Bluffs.

The connection is long standing. In 1999, Mr. deForest assisted owners Susan and Sherm Goldstein to design the restaurant. In a press release, the Goldsteins said that at the time they needed a critical chef’s eye to make sure the open kitchen design would work. Ms. Goldstein, a former West Tisbury School teacher, said Ben and his sister, Melanie, were her students in the West Tisbury School and the Goldsteins were Red Cat aficionada when Ben opened the former West Tisbury restaurant, now the site of State Road, in 1995.

“After a 4-year hiatus from Island cooking, Benjamin deForest is back with a menu that offers all day dining highlighting Ben’s trademark entrees: Big Ass Sea Scallops/pan-seared with sweet corn risotto; Broiled Local Cod with white bean cassoulet & preserved lemon along with inspired Z Burgers…”

Zephrus is open for lunch and dinner daily, from 11:30 am on. For more information, visit mvmansionhouse.com/zephrus-restaurant/ or call 508-693-3416.
