The 12th annual Richie Madeiras memorial Softball Tournament, planned as a two-day tourney, was abbreviated to a one-day, one-pitch affair, Saturday, at Tisbury's War Veterans Memorial Park. Nine teams played 17 games.
Defeating the 'Canes 16-9, Team Richie reached the playoff finals with Star Liquors of Bridgewater. Team Richie won, 18-6. Beside the finalists the leading teams were: (3) The Hurricanes, (4) A.I. Plumbing, and (5) The Wildcats.
The annual memorial to the popular Oak Bluffs shellfish warden is organized and produced by Ray Tattersall of Vineyard Haven.
