Thursday morning Martha’s Vineyard students of all ages begin a new school year. Island taxpayers spend generously on education. This year they will contribute approximately $40,411,326 to support seven schools with a total enrollment of approximately 2,214 students.

This week The Times invited the principals of each school and superintendent of schools James Weiss to describe each school’s readiness, important program or faculty changes, and individual goals for the school year.

Readers also will find a description of individual school enrollments, operating budgets, staff, and contact information. It is information that Island students, parents and taxpayers should find useful.
