Vineyard golfers fall to Feehan, beat Warriors, twice

Bishop Feehan arrived on Tuesday to try their hand against the high-flying Vineyard golfers and left with a 248-255 win in their pockets.

Shamrocks Liz Rubino and Dan Lynch and MV’s Brendan Maseda all carded 39, sharing medalist honors. Kat deBettencourt finished at 41. Mike deBettencourt and Matt Marchand had 43.

MV is 6-2 on the year. Bishop Feehan is 2-2.

The previous day, the Vineyarders had dropped the Nauset Warriors off-Island at the Captains Golf Club Port Course, 267-277, nailing their sixth win.

Mike deBettencourt led the Vineyard again with the medalist round of 38 on the par 36 course. Chris Morris came in at 42, Kat deBettencourt at 46, Justin Smith and Mike Piland at 46, and Brendan Maseda at 49. Nauset’s best was Charlie Brooks’ 42.

Nauset dropped to 2-4.

On Thursday last week, the Vineyarders won their fifth match in six tries, sinking the Coyle and Cassidy Warriors on the friendly fairways of Farm Neck, 252 to 267.

David Gorey of Coyle-Cassidy had the medalist round of 36 on the par 35 course. Other CC scorers were Jake Gomes 42, Joe Minicucci 46, Chris Studley 46, Jonathan Clark 47, and Nick Slutz, 50.

The Vineyarders were paced by Mike deBettencourt’s 39. Chris Morris also shot 39, Kat deBettencourt 41, Matt Marchand 42, Mike Piland 43, and Brenden Maseda 46.

The Vineyarders hosted neighboring Falmouth in a late match at Farm Neck, yesterday.
