Aubrey McCormick drilled home a late equalizer to lift the Vineyard girls varsity soccer team to a 2-2 tie with the Coyle and Cassidy Warriors in an Eastern Athletic Conference match at Dan McCarthy Field on Tuesday.

The result earned the Vineyarders their first point in the EAC standings of the young season.

Alayna Hutchinson scored the first Vineyard goal after Coyle-Cassidy had taken a 1-0 lead early in the second half.

On Saturday, the Islanders gave visiting Wellesley about as much as they could handle before bowing to the Raiders, 2-0.

Freshman Mariah Duarte was a standout in goal for the Islanders in their second game of the year. Hanna Persson and Sarah Williston were effective at screening the Islander goal and goalie.

On Thursday, the Vineyarders opened the season with a home match against EAC rivals Bishop Stang. The Spartans prevailed 2-0.
