The Island Housing Trust is calling for applications to buy four new homes in Vineyard Haven. The homes will be awarded by lottery, to buyers who qualify based on income levels.
The four homes are offered to families or individuals who earn 100 percent, 80 percent, or less of the area median income.
The deadline for applications is Friday, December 2nd. Information and applications can be picked up at the Vineyard Housing Office (346 State Road), or downloaded from the Island Housing Trust website.
A homebuyer training seminar is scheduled for October 19th at the Tisbury Senior Center in Vineyard Haven, beginning at 5:30 pm. The seminar, organized by the Dukes County Regional Housing Authority, will include instructions on how to navigate the affordable housing selection process.
The townhouses on Lake Street are within walking distance of the downtown business area, and are designed with energy-efficient features such as foam insulated walls, high-efficiency heating and ventilation systems. The homes will be ready for moving in next spring.
