To the Editor:

I was born on Martha’s Vineyard. I am a handicapped lady. Over the years, I have seen a good many changes on the Vineyard. However, the older buildings are still not accessible. It is hard to find a job because the buildings are not handicap-accessible. It is unfair that I can’t ever go into some clothing stores. I would like to go to the movies. It would be nice if all of the Island theaters were handicap-accessible.

I had a cousin that used to go to town meetings. He was also a handicapped person. He was one of the people who headed the CORD organization. I live in an Island Elderly Housing apartment. It was actually his apartment. There is a pathway with his name on it in his memory. He was well-known. He is no longer with us. He passed away a few years ago. I’m writing this letter on his and my behalf.

This is a serious matter that needs to be acted on. So, please have a heart and help me make Martha’s Vineyard handicap-accessible.
