Fall cleanse

Jan Buhrman's Kitchen Porch Culinary Experiences will host a five-day Metabolic Book Camp starting on Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Beach Plum Inn in Chilmark. Ms. Buhrman, a locavore educator and chef, and John Bagnulo, nutritionist and food expert, will lead the strengthening and invigorating cleanse workshop that will include daily hikes, yoga, lectures, cooking demos, and recipes for a lifestyle change. Participants can opt to stay at the inn for the weekend or sign up for the workshop only for $850; $1,600 workshop and private room; $1,250 for shared room. Benefit for Tawnya

Friends of Tawnya MacLeod are hosting a benefit concert on Saturday, Oct. 15 upstairs at The Lampost. Ms. MacLeod is undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Music is by local bands DCLA, Master Exploder, Kodacrome, Melanie Chance & Friends, and Auntie Em and the Bedspins, plus raffles for prizes. The event is from 9 pm til closing, and the suggested donation is $10.

 

Trick and trade

Recycle your old Halloween costume and get a new look for this year. The Oak Bluffs Library is hosting a Halloween Costume swap on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10:30 am to 3 pm. Bring a costume (or a few) to the library any time before 6 pm on Friday, Oct. 21, and receive a ticket to gain entry to the swap.
