Wonderful day for a festival

October 12, 2011

To the Editor:

The Tisbury School celebrated its annual harvest festival last Sunday. A beautiful sunny day was the perfect setting to enjoy the fall festivities, which have become a tradition at our school for the past eight years. As always, this fun-filled family event, hosted by the parent-teacher organization is free of charge. This would not be possible without the generous support of so many in the Island community.

We are grateful to Julie Brand, Tisbury School K-2 art teacher, for overseeing the pumpkin decorating table, as well as the parent, high school, and junior high school volunteers who came out to lend a hand with the games and activities. We appreciate the gift of your time.

It is with much appreciation that we thank the following individuals and businesses for their donations: Dave Gauvain, manager of the Stop & Shop, for the generous donation of pumpkins for decorating; Jennifer Hanna and Kirsten Davey of Island Pony Rides, for donating their time and beautiful ponies for the children to ride; the Packer family for providing the hayrides; and Patricia Sirakovsky and Island Bee Company, for their donation of the honey.

As always, we thank the Tisbury School's administrative team, John Custer, Principal, and Sean Mulvey, Assistant Principal, for their constant support of our community outreach programs and events.
