Friday, the MV girls soccer team won its first game of the year, defeating Cape Tech at Harwich, 3-0. Two goals were scored by Maddy Hughes. The third score was by Alayna Hutchinson.

The girls challenged Wellesley on the Raiders’ turf, Saturday, losing 3-0. Wellesley’s Barbara Webb did all the scoring in the game.

The girls took the field against Bishop Feehan, here on Monday and were shut out by the EAC-leading Shamrocks, 8-0. Bishop Feehan is currently ranked 6th in Massachusetts by the Globe. The next day they paid a visit to Scituate, losing to the Sailors, 3-0, and falling to 1-12-2 for the season.

Coach Bennett credits his team for improved play and a never-say-die spirit even when overmatched.

The girls hosted Somerset Berkley in a late game, yesterday. Tomorrow is senior day for the Vineyarders, who play Cape Tech in their final home match of the season. Play begins at 2:45pm.
