Young artists find almost everything at Featherstone

At Featherstone Center for the Arts, the fall art classes for young children are well under way. Under the direction of Lani Carney, who’s been running the program for years, offerings include courses in everything from mosaics to oil painting to an introduction to Picasso.

Session 2 of Exploring Mosaics with Children will meet from 3:15 to 5:45 on Mondays, Oct. 31 and Nov. 7, 14, and 21. Children from 5 to 8 years old are eligible.

Art for Kindergarteners (age 5-6) meets from 3 to 5 pm on Tuesdays, November 1, 8, 15, 29, and Dec. 6.

Pablo Picasso — the Gaze of a Genius (ages 6-8) will meet from 3:15 to 5:45 on Wednesdays, November 2, 9, and 16.

There are three more classes in the second session of Advanced Children’s Class/Oil Painting (ages 7-9). They will be held from 3:15 to 5:45 on Thursdays, Nov. 3, 10, and 17.

Wet and Vibrant Colors for Children (ages 3-5) meets from 3 to 5 pm on Fridays Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, 11, 18, and 25.

Classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays cost $35. Tuesday and Friday classes cost $30.

In addition, four Saturday Art Adventures are still to come this fall. The programs run from 9 am to 12 noon, on Saturdays, Oct. 29 (Happy Birthday Art Party for Pablo Picasso), Nov. 12 (Woofstock), Nov. 19 (National Day of the Horse), and Dec. 10 (Winter Solstice — World Peace). The cost of the Saturday Art Adventures is $45.
