Oak Bluffs church offers winter clothes to needy neighbors

Spearheaded by Deacon Bernadette Crossland, the congregation of Faith Community Church started to collect winter clothes two months ago, with the idea of passing them along to people in need on the Island.
The word-of-mouth campaign resulted in several large tables laden with jackets, sweaters, scarves, and gloves on Saturday at the church on County Road in Oak Bluffs.
Rain starting at noon curtailed the clothes giveaway, but plenty of satisfied "customers" took advantage of the church's generosity earlier in the day.
