The Martha's Vineyard Boys and Girls Club was the big winner Friday when the Edgartown Yacht Club was transformed into a swank casino.

The annual event benefits the boys and girls club and in alternating years the MV Ice Arena. Last week it was the club's turn to hit the tables.

More than 100 people crowded into the yacht club on Edgartown Harbor to play a variety of games of chance. Club executive director Peter Lambos said the event raised more than $3,000 for the after-school program.

Mr. Lambos said it costs $20 annually for a child to be in the program. The actual cost is closer to $1,500, he said.

Mr. Lambos said he was grateful for all of the support. He noted that the yacht club donated all of the bar profits.

"It was a good time," Mr. Lambos said. "The boys and girls club was the big winner."
