At a Change of Watch ceremony in Sandwich on December 7, two Islanders were among new officers installed in the Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Division 11, which covers the Cape and Islands.

David Pothier of Oak Bluffs was elected as Vice Flotilla Commander for the Woods Hole and Martha’s Vineyard Flotilla, 11-2, according to a press release. Mr. Pothier will also serve as Detachment Leader for the Martha’s Vineyard Auxiliary. Chris Scott of Edgartown became the new Division Staff Officer for Public Affairs.

Members of the Auxiliary public boating safety courses perform free Vessel Safety Checks for recreational boaters, patrol local waters, and serve as administrative and communications watch standers at area Coast Guard Stations.
