The Vineyard Nursing Association (VNA) announced the appointment of Katie Ferreira to the nursing staff. Ms. Ferreira, a 2000 graduate of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, joins 14 other VNA nurses.

“Katie brings everything we look for in a nurse: great schooling, varied nursing experience, and a compassionate personality,” Sandie Corr-Dolby, clinical director of Vineyard Nursing, said in a press release. “What’s more is that she is coming home to work for us.”

Prior to returning to Vineyard nursing, Ms. Ferreira gained the critical experience necessary for dealing with the varied patient needs that home health care nurses face at Rockville General Hospital in Vernon, CT and, most recently, at Cape Cod Hospital, where she worked on a medical/surgical ward, the Intensive Care Unit, a medical telemetry unit, and the Cardiac step-down unit.

“As a home health care nurse, you have the time to teach your patients in their own environment, where you can be the most influential. I grew up in this small, close community where I was afforded many opportunities. Now it’s my turn to give back,” Ms. Ferreira said.
