Call for directors
Island Theatre Workshop (ITW) is looking for directors – with projects – for their upcoming One Act Play Festival to be held at the end of March at the Katharine Cornell Theatre in Vineyard Haven.
An informal meeting, along with auditions for actors, will be held at the ITW space at 12 Music Street, West Tisbury (just down the road from the Grange Hall) on Thursday, Jan. 19, from 6 to 8 pm and Sunday, Jan. 22, from 4 to 6 pm. Fireside dinner & talk
Sail Martha's Vineyard hosts its first fireside winter dinner and lecture of the 2012 series this coming Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Black Dog Tavern in Vineyard Haven. Nat Benjamin, of Gannon & Benjamin Marine Railway, will chronicle the construction of Juno, a 65-foot schooner launched in 2003. Art in the Stacks features Bella
Brazilian artist, musician, singer, and puppeteer Bella is this month's featured Art in the Stacks artist at the Vineyard Haven Library. See her work on display during regular library hours through February 4. For more information, call 508-696-4211.
Grow the local food movement
Next Thursday, Jan. 26, Slow Food Martha's Vineyard is gathering to discuss strategies for growing the local food movement on the Island. While munching on popcorn and sipping cider, the group will hear ideas and opinions, and explore key questions to help shape the future direction of Slow Food M.V. The meeting is from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Chilmark Community Center.
