Extensive and dangerous mission

Doug Cabral's Editorial of January 19 had it right. We, and our selectmen, should support the Coast Guard's new boathouse plan. They have made some requested improvements in the design. They have a mission to protect us. Station Menemsha is expanding – another 47-footer, with the requisite crew. The "quaintness" of Menemsha is not at risk. I for one am happy to look at a larger boathouse and know the extensive and dangerous mission is being served. May Station Menemsha get the thanks it deserves.
