To the Editor:
We pose the question, why was the new hospital built if the doctors there are going to send everyone to Mass General?
We are dealing with a high-risk pregnancy and need to be monitored at Mass General, understandably so. However, when we tried to get a simple ultrasound done here on the Vineyard, to save us a trip to Boston, our second trip that week, we were told they did not feel comfortable performing the ultrasound.
This ultrasound was not to determine anything other than heart rate and activity levels of the baby. That nice, new building with all the new technology does not seem to be being used to its full potential. While we are sure there are more political reasons as to why things are the way they are, as Islanders, we are disappointed and frustrated.
