Vineyard girls fall to Bishop Stang

The Vineyard girls varsity basketball team traveled to North Dartmouth Friday and dropped a 54-43 decision to Bishop Stang in an Eastern Athletic Conference game.

The Vineyarders simply could not get on track against the Spartans and fell to 5-5 overall, 0-4 in the EAC.

Jenny Lindland scored 15 points and Maggie Riseborough added 12 more for M.V.

The girl’s game with Bishop Feehan, originally scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 22, was postponed due to the unexpected death of player Alyana Hutchinson’s mother.

The Vineyarders visit EAC foe Somerset Berkley Friday. The game tips off at 5:30 pm.

In jayvee action, the Islanders played great defense but lost to Bishop Stang 41-33. Emily deBettencourt was the high scorer with 13 points. Mariah Duarte scored eight points and Lucy Hackney had six.
