Joseph F. McHugh, formerly of Brighton and Chappaquidick, died on January 27, 2012. He was 82.

Beloved husband of the late Sheila (Tierney) McHugh, he was the devoted father of Joseph and his wife, May, of Seattle, Wash., Thomas and his wife, Susan, of Manchester, N.H., Margaret Naegelin and her husband, Matthew, of Scituate, Sheila McMullen and her husband, Kenneth, of Hopkinton, Debra Moran and her husband, James, of Kingston, Rose Cornu and her husband, Tim of Hopkinton, Susan McHugh of Durham, N.H., Grace McCormick of Sagamore, and Timothy and his wife, Jennifer, of Edgartown. He was the brother of Carol Kelly, Grace McDonnell, Virginia Dwyer, Maureen Considine, Robert and James McHugh and the late Jane Leonard, Mary, Richard and William "Bucky" McHugh.

He is also survived by 21 grandchildren — Patrick and Rachel McHugh, Lauren and Kerry McHugh, Kelly Naegelin, Kenny Jr., Brooke and Alison McMullen, Ashley and John Moran, Nicholas, Nolan and Ella Cornu, Jason and Jacqueline Lapinski, Shannon, Mary and Thomas McCormick and Jill, Meghan and Caitlin McHugh and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are on Tuesday, January 31, from 4 to 8 pm at Lehman, Reen & McNamara Funeral Home,
63 Chestnut Hill Avenue, Brighton. A Funeral Mass to be held at 9 am on Wednesday, Feb. 1, in St. Columbkille Church in Brighton.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Mr. McHugh may be made to the New Hampshire Veteran's Home, 139 Winter St. Tilton, NH 03276
