Let Islanders vote on the roundabout

February 1, 2012

To the Editor:

I have to disagree with Laura Murphy ("Frivolous lawsuit", January 26). The roundabout is not just Oak Bluffs business. This plan will have a major impact on the whole Island. I do agree a lawsuit is not the answer, but as some have suggested, all of the towns should put the question to the voters on a nonbinding vote on the spring election ballot.

Let's give the Islanders who will be impacted on a daily basis a chance to vote on this without being pressured by the select few, who insist on going through with it even though there is much dissension from the Island as a whole.

What harm will this do? It will either fly or not, but at least we Islanders will have our say.
