Erica L. Knowles of Wakefield died Wednesday, February 15, 2012. She was 23.
Erica was born in South Kingstown, R.I., She was the beloved daughter of Shiela (Wood) Priore, and her husband John Priore of Alpharetta, Georgia; and the late John Knowles, and his wife Carla Knowles of Wakefield.
Erica was studying journalism and women’s studies at the University of Rhode Island. An artist, Erica enjoyed photography, poetry, painting and drawing. She was a hostess at Turtle Soup in Narragansett.
Erica spent every summer of her life on the Vineyard at her mother’s house in Edgartown. She leaves many friends she met over the years on the Island.
Erica was a shooting star. An amazing streak of light in the world where next to her everything seemed so lifeless and dull. She was infectious laughter, undeniable spirit, and a loyal friend.
Erica was an adventurer. She taught all of us how to toss aside our small ambitions and reach for our biggest and brightest dreams and will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who love her. Erica lived life with an inspirational freedom that most of us never dare dream.
In addition to her mother, step-father and step-mother, she leaves two sisters, Ashley L. Knowles of Charleston, S.C., and Sydney B. Priore of Alpharetta, Ga.,; a brother, Vito J. Priore of Alpharetta, Ga.; her maternal grandfather, George Wood of West Kingston, R.I.; her paternal grandparents, Franklin and Phyllis Knowles ofCranston, R.I. She was the granddaughter of the late Beatrice P. Wood.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, February 18, at Peace Dale Congregational Church, 261 Columbia Street, Peace Dale, R.I. In lieuof flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 will be appreciated.
