Albert Nobbs (R)

The story of a woman in 19th-century Ireland who has spent 30 years of her life passing as a man in order to make a living. Co-written by Glenn Close, who was nominated for a best actress Oscar as the lead in this study of gender bending roles.

The Artist (PG-13)

A black-and-white, mostly silent film. It’s Hollywood, 1927. Silent movie star George Valentin wonders if the arrival of talking pictures will cause him to fade into oblivion, when he falls for a young dancer set for a big break. Winner of 5 Oscars, nominated for 10. Directed by Michel Hazanavicius, starring Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo. Dujardin won the Best Actor Oscar and Cannes Film Festival.

The Descendants (R)

A land baron (George Clooney) tries to re-connect with his two daughters after his wife suffers a boating accident. Directed by Alexander Payne, and with Shailene Woodley and Amara Mille. Nominated for five Oscars, won one for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (PG)

This movie is a follow-up to the 2008 hit “Journey To The Center Of The Earth.” A boy partners with his stepfather on a mission to find his grandfather, who is thought to be missing on a mythical island inhabited with an arc of fantastic creatures. Stars Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Michael Caine, Vanessa Hudgens, and Kristin Davis.

The Iron Lady (PG-13)

An unvarnished biographical study of the life of Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, with a focus on the price she paid for power. It is another star turn for Meryl Streep with support from Jim Broadbent and Richard E. Grant. Streep won the Oscar for best performance by an actress in a leading role.

Safe House (R)

A safe house where a young CIA agent is looking after a fugitive is attacked. They run for it. Stars Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, and Robert Patrick.

The Vow (PG-13)

A car accident puts a young woman (Rachel McAdams) into a coma. She wakes up with memory loss and her husband (Channing Tatum) has to work to win her heart again.
