Resignation opens a seat on Dukes County commission
Long-time Dukes County commissioner Les Leland of West Tisbury resigned February 22. County commission chairman Melinda Loberg said the county would advertise for candidates to serve out the remainder of Mr. Leland's term, which expires on December 31.
Ms. Loberg said Mr. Leland stepped down for health reasons.
According to the administrative code that governs the process for filling a vacancy, the remaining six commission members and the county clerk will appoint a commissioner to complete the term.
