Act of Valor (R)

An elite squad of Navy SEALs rescues a kidnapped CIA agent in this covert-action thriller. Active duty SEALs play the lead fighting roles in this story based on actual events. Stars Alex Veadov, Roselyn Sanchez, and Nestor Serrano.

The Artist (PG-13)

A black-and-white, mostly silent film. It’s Hollywood, 1927. Silent movie star George Valentin wonders if the arrival of talking pictures will cause him to fade into oblivion, when he falls for a young dancer set for a big break. Winner of five Oscars, nominated for 10. Directed by Michel Hazanavicius, starring Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo. Dujardin won Best Actor both at the Oscars and the Cannes Film Festival.

The Iron Lady (PG-13)

An unvarnished biographical study of the life of Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, with a focus on the price she paid for power. It is another star turn for Meryl Streep with support from Jim Broadbent and Richard E. Grant. Streep won the Oscar for best performance by an actress in a leading role.

John Carter (PG-13)

Civil War veteran John Carter (Taylor Kitsch) wakes up on an Earth-like Mars, with its own civil war. Based on the 100-year-old Edgar Rice Burroughs classic “A Princess of Mars,” Carter comes to the aid of a Martian princess in this sci-fi adventure. Also stars Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe.

Safe House (R)

A safe house is attacked where a young CIA agent is looking after a fugitive. They run for it. Stars Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, and Robert Patrick.

The Vow (PG-13)

A car accident puts a young woman (Rachel McAdams) into a coma. She wakes up with memory loss and her husband (Channing Tatum) has to work to win her heart again.
