Tisbury’s selectmen’s race is only contest

The Tisbury selectman’s race between candidates Tom Pachico, a former selectman, and Jonathan Snyder, vice chairman of the finance and advisory committee (FinCom), is the only contest in the town elections on Tuesday, April 24. The polls will be open from noon to 8 pm at the American Legion Hall opposite the Tisbury School. Mr. Pachico and Mr. Snyder are competing for the seat now held by Geoghan Coogan, who will not seek reelection.

New candidate Darren Welch and incumbent John Thayer are running for two three-year positions on the board of public works.

George Balco seeks election to one of three, three-year library trustee positions, along with incumbents Jo Weinberg and Pamela Street. Ian Aitchison is running for a one-year position.

Planning board member Jeffrey E. Thompson seeks election to a five-year term, after filling a vacancy by appointment last year.

The FinCom has three open seats and one candidate, Melinda Loberg, who seeks reelection to a three-year term. Town clerk Marion Mudge said anyone interested could run for one of the open seats as a write-in candidate. The three people with the most votes would be elected.

Mark Campos and Remo Fullin are seeking reelection to two three-year positions as constables.

Tisbury School committee member Robert Tankard, water commissioner Roland Miller, board of assessors member David Dandridge are incumbents running unopposed. Board of health member James Pringle, also an incumbent, reports that he is not running for reelection.

The ballot also includes two Proposition 2.5 override questions and a non-binding public opinion advisory question regarding a roundabout at the blinker intersection of Edgartown-Vineyard Haven and Barnes roads.
