Jeremy Alley-Tarter wins the St. Paddy’s Dayish 5K

Jeremy Alley-Tarter of Oak Bluffs led a Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School track team sweep of the top three positions in Sunday’s annual Ocean View Saint Paddy’s Dayish road race around East Chop.

A total of 115 runners took part in the event on a misty, chilly morning in Oak Bluffs.

The MVRHS sophomore completed the 5K course in 18:21, nine seconds ahead of teammate Mike Schroeder. Sam Oslyn finished third in 18:41. Rene DaSilva of Vineyard Haven was fourth at 19:09 and Dave Diriwachter rounded out the top five with a time of 19:11. The rest of the top ten were: Jose Alves (Oak Bluffs, 19:38); MVRHS junior Kyle Joba-Woodruff (West Tisbury, 19:54); Reaan Steenkamp (Oak Bluffs, 20:02); David Gaffey (Oak Bluffs, 20:33); Hudson Maynard (Vineyard Haven, 20:35).

Susan Sirikovsky of Fairlawn, N.J., was the first woman to the tape, finishing in 23:22, good for 22nd overall. The next five women were Kristen Fiola (Edgartown, 23:37, 24th); MVRHS runners Julia Neville (West Tisbury, 24:40, 35th) and Shivonne Schofield (Edgartown, 24:53, 36th); and Donna Creighton, (Vineyard Haven, 25:00, 37th.
