Discriminatory advertisement

To the Editor:

Thank you for doing a good job and helping the community with news updates, calendar, etc. This is the first time I use this venue to give my feedback about an issue related in The Times. This is the second week you guys are running an ad for someone in the help wanted section that I find very offensive, discriminatory, and troubling. The help wanted ad says no English as second language.

I find it weird that MV Times is fueling and encouraging the hate against immigrants, legal or not.

It is not the first time when just simply by reading the news articles I can tell the editor/columnist is putting a certain spin on the facts that makes the immigrant population on the Island look bad. But that is just my opinion about the spin put on facts. The ad is just something blatant, an in your face kind of thing. This is what The Times stands by?

I understand that the guy paid for his ad to be published, and he is covered by his First Amendment rights, and although I find it very offensive, I don’t hold a grudge on him. I feel bad knowing that the biggest news outlet on the Island is taking part in this. It’s bad PR.

I would like to mention that English is my second language, and this is not a rant against immigrant haters.
