Nectar’s to turn down the music?

Edgartown selectmen have scheduled a hearing for April 23 for a request to transfer the alcohol license now held by Nectar’s to the Flatbread Company.

Nectar’s, a well-known music club in Burlington, Vermont, has operated the former Hot Tin Roof near the Martha’s Vineyard Airport as the Island’s only concert venue since 2009. Flatbread Company has operated a restaurant in the building for the past two years.

The request for license transfer has raised questions about whether Nectar’s intends to continue as a music venue on Martha’s Vineyard.

Contacted at the Burlington, Vermont office, general manager Alex Budney had little to say. “We’re actually still negotiating that,” he said. “The liquor license, that’s not for me to comment on.”

Mr. Budney added that Nectar’s would have no other comment, but intended to issue a press release at the end of this week.
