To the Editor:
Once again I am overwhelmed and humbled by the acts of kindness that recently occurred. The Tisbury School organizes an annual “Have a Heart and donate your hair” as our random act of kindness theme for the month of February. We have done this six years in a row. Families and teachers at the school look forward to this annual event.
Each year we have had at least 10 students and parents donate their hair to the Locks of Love Foundation, an organization that collects hair to make wigs for children who have lost their hair due to illness. We chose this foundation because our small community is so greatly affected by cancer, and as teachers we wanted to do something that went directly to the children.
This year we would like to thank Maggie’s Salon and the wonderful hairdressers who gave their time to give the haircuts free of charge. Each and every stylist made the donors feel so special and look beautiful.
Most importantly, we would like to thank Natalie Pil, Taybor and Angie Estrella, Esme Colon, Mackenzie Searle, Alicia Barnes, and Noramar DePaula for their generosity and kindness. Their donation will help make a difference.
